I keep a few of these Amazon cables on hand at all times. This is an affordable HDMI cable option that offers perfect performance with 4K ultra high-definition and 3D video sources. The cable's compact plug and supple pliability places less stress on HDMI ports, and they are color coded for simplified setup. If your HDMI devices are stacked or otherwise close together, consider using the 3-feet length for less cable excess, and affordable cable lengths up to 25-feet are available.

The DVDO Air3C comes with everything you need to link an HDMI source device and display with robust wireless technology that is easy to setup and resists interference. This technology is ideal for when running an HDMI cable is impractical or undesirable. The otherwise similar Pro version of the Air3C includes a useful software analysis tool, but is otherwise unnecessary for general use.

My favorite ultra thin active HDMI cables (36AWG) have been updated to support at least 18Gbps bandwidth performance - enough for 4K Ultra HD at 60fps and full 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampled or RGB color. Any 'high speed' HDMI cable should carry 4K UHD video perfectly, but 4K PC enthusiasts and anyone wanting to future-proof their HDMI cable investment cannot go wrong with the Monoprice Ultra Slim Series. Also available in cable lengths of 3-feet, 6-feet, and 10-feet with black or silver (pictured) connectors.

RedMere cables feature built-in signal processing for perfect sound and picture quality. A benefit of RedMere technology is that it enables thin cable designs at lengths much longer than regular HDMI cables and at prices that are far less than wireless HDMI products. This 50-feet cable is an affordable RedMere-enabled long-distance option, and it is also available in lengths of 30-feet, 40-feet, 50-feet, and 60-feet. For a premium and custom cable options, I highly recommend Blue Jeans Cable.

Compared to wireless HDMI products, an extra long HDMI cable with built-in equalization delivers perfect picture quality without interference issues. This 75-foot Super HD 1080p HDMI Cable is CL3 rated for in-wall installation, and a 100-foot version is also available. Extra long HDMI cables like these are directional - one end is labeled for output to the display and the other end is labeled for connection to the source device. I wouldn't recommend this cable for the latest 4K UHD video sources, but it's a value for long-distance/low-latency linking of 1080p source devices

If you are looking to extend an HDMI connection up to 180-feet, the Vanco 280725 doesn't have the sexiest name but it performs flawlessly using two CAT5/CAT6 cables to make the link. The Vanco HDMI extenders are also compatible with optional IR transmitters and receivers that are compatible with most set top boxes - including DirecTV satellite receivers. The Vanco extenders I've installed transmit HD video for hours on end on a daily basis and have done so without so much as a single hiccup.

Angled HDMI adapters like these are a great way to keep cables out of sight. I use the "270-degree" version on my Samsung and LG TVs' side HDMI ports to keep things tidy, but other TVs or port locations may require the "90-degree" version for optimal orientation. The product photos are accurate so take a good look to make sure you order the correct set for your application.

If you have more video gear than HDMI ports on your TV, an HDMI switch is an easy way to add all the inputs you need without sacrificing picture quality or functionality. The J-Tech Digital 5 Port HDMI 5x1 Powered Switch is a well-made adapter that connects to one HDMI port on a TV or HDMI-enabled AV receiver and converts it into a 5-port auto-switching HDMI hub. The J-Tech auto-switch feature monitors the HDMI inputs for active input sources and switches accordingly. An IR remote is also included, and the switch is compatible with Harmony universal remotes. If a 5-port HDMI switch is too much, J-Tech also offers a 3-port option at a value price.

A regular HDMI switch enables multiple source devices to connect to a single HDMI port - handy for TVs with too few HDMI inputs. However, if you have a room with more than one display (say, a projector and TV), then a device like the AV Access HDMI 4x2 Matrix Switch is a handy addition. The "4x2" in HDMI switch-speak is referring to 4 inputs (up to 4K30...not HDR-grade, unfortunately) and 2 HDMI outputs that can be configured however you wish - clone video from a single source, or select different video sources for each HDMI output being two examples. We continue to await the arrival of affordable 4K60/HDR/18Gbps HDMI matrix switches.

If you have HDMI devices but need optical digital audio, the J-Tech Digital 3 Port HDMI/MHL Switch & Audio Extractor is an affordable HDMI auto-switch that features configurable optical and analog audio output. This switch would be ideal for feeding an older AV receiver or soundbar Dolby Digital or DTS sound with optical audio input from connected HDMI source devices. This switch also includes an IR remote and it is compatible with Harmony universal remotes.

The Sewell Direct SplitDeck 4K HDMI Splitter makes it easy and affordable to split a 4K or 1080p source to more than one display (say, a 4K TV and 4K projector). The SplitDeck v2.0 handles 4K and 1080p signals including HDR from 4K UHD Blu-ray players and movies as well as 4K60 4:4:4 HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2. The SplitDeck v2.0 is available in a 1x2 and 1x4 (output/inputs) configuration.
